In my opinion, this wedding had it all; tons of colour, a variety of emotions, and a little rain 🙂 Maddy and Spencer were married on a hot, and slightly wet summers day at the beautiful Compass Rose Suites. With so many areas to choose from, they married in the open air chapel, followed by their reception in the greenhouse and dancing in the barn. Their friends and family spent the day laughing, crying, eating and drinking well into the evening where they capped things off with dancing and singing along to the live cover band.
Its days like these, I am extremely grateful to do what I do and be included in such amazing celebrations. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed reliving them.
As plans often do, my October weekend marathon of sessions turned into a quieter Saturday with three lovely sessions in the morning. We took our time, chatting and styling each of the mamas and reveling in the stillness of the rainy morning. I enjoy making connections with each mama, finding common acquaintances, sharing interests and of course, discussing motherhood and all that it entails.

“Motherhood to me is everything and anything. It has given me a new identity. Before having kids, my identity was an athlete and that was me, but being a mother has provided a greater identity; one that I can’t even explain; an identity I am more proud of each passing day. Motherhood means happiness, laughter, tears, joy and moments of immense anxiety. It’s also never deleting a single picture from your phone. It’s the greatest thing that has ever happened to me and the best part of me.”

“Motherhood, to me, is ever-changing. It’s growing – quite literally. Growing little humans then feeling your heart grow out of your chest. It’s learning. Learning how to adapt to every single possible situation, and with that soaking up daily lessons from the tiny humans you’ve somehow created. It’s forgiving. Forgiving yourself for not being perfect for them, and also learning to move on gracefully from the million little mishaps you will deal with in a day. Motherhood is messy and beautiful, raw and magical. Motherhood to me, is them – and motherhood is all of me.”

“Motherhood to me, is the truest and strongest form of love that one can feel.”
