I am really beginning to appreciate Mother Nature during my outdoor photo sessions. The more I shoot, the more I tend to embrace the wind and the rain and the clouds and the sunshine; whatever she gives me. During this particular engagement session, while on the water, the wind was sweeping Elise’s dress and her hair in all the right directions. The movement gives the photos a little more life, I think.
Elise & Chris were engaged during a romantic, private dinner at the Ivy Lea Club in Gananoque. Over the long weekend, we returned to this beautiful restaurant in The Thousand Islands in preparation for their wedding in August.
These two have major chemistry, which always makes my job easier. Enjoy.
“As a mother, I want to be humble enough to realize I haven’t mastered it all, brave enough to keep trying, and grateful enough to see the grace in it all.”
KRISTEN // Brennan
“Life started for me when Brennan came into this world last June. He’s adorable, handsome, and hilarious !! He makes me smile daily. Words will never describe the kind of love I have for this little boy of mine. No matter how long the days or nights are, we always get through them and that’s only because of him. He has taught me about patience and what the true meaning of strength really means. He has my heart.”
SARA // Emma
“Motherhood to me means waking up to see that beautiful smile everyday! Knowing you have a purpose everyday, to do something good. Everything we do, we do for her. Emma has changed my life for the better, she makes me want to be a better person and she makes me feel like I can strive and push to my goals and get more out of life. Motherhood is challenging, you have to take it all in and enjoy the ride. As a mother, I want to be humble enough to realize I haven’t mastered it all, brave enough to keep trying, and grateful enough to see the grace in it all. Emma has brought so much happiness to our lives, I can’t imagine life without her. As a mother, you must hold onto the tiny moments and cherish every snuggle because they grow up so fast.”
NICKI // Danica, Darrah & Blake
“I never wanted to be a mother. I never had that innate desire to hold a baby, or nurture anyone. I was wild, selfish, and fiercely independent. Then one day a baby was born, MY baby was born, and then another. WOW, talk about a total transformation. I was instantly tame, gentle and in love. We are a quirky, crazy, blended family who loves one another unconditionally. God bless my husband for taking me and my girls as we were and creating a beautiful little family with the addition of our wild-child. I am still fiercely independent but, I always have 3 sidekicks to share my adventures with, and I still have no desire to hold babies…except for my own.”
MELANIE // Maia
“Motherhood has been such a lesson for me. A lesson in patience, a lesson in confidence, a lesson in the strength of my marriage and most of all a lesson in love. It has taught me fear, worry, happiness and perspective. I’ve learned to see the world through the eyes of my daughter, and it has been beautiful and overwhelming. How humbling it is to watch her discover and delight at the smallest of things. When something so small brings such joy to her, it reminds me to look for the beauty in all things. It has taught me innocence and joy and awe. Motherhood has taken my life and completely redefined it. It’s given me a built in sidekick. It is hard, it is some days exhausting but it is exactly where I want to be. Motherhood is truly a force to be reckoned with.”
BETSY// Norah
“Motherhood to me is something I can’t describe without my eyes welling up. It’s a feeling my Mom warned me about but didn’t quite believe I would ever know. It’s a life changing and altering experience that sends you on the wildest ride of your life. People have said to me “Norah is so lucky to have you as a Mom!”, and I smile and nod and thank them. But deep down inside, my heart is aching because I know anyone can be a Mom but I don’t deserve the credit. It’s her that makes me want to be a good one.
Norah both saved and changed my life and I will forever be grateful to her for that. She’s my best friend, my inspiration to be a better person and to work hard. She lets me stop and enjoy life’s smallest but most amazing moments and giggle when I feel like I don’t have time to stop. Motherhood to me is a breath of fresh air. Hearing your favourite song on the radio on your way to work. Watching someone do something nice for someone else. Seeing someone you love succeed. Nailing a new recipe. Great music at a wedding. Your favourite band live in concert. A glass of champagne. It’s brief and fleeting moments of pure joy in a hectic and busy life. Motherhood to me is the biggest, strongest, longest, comfiest bear hug I’ve ever had. “
